Meanwhile in a video message, RB’s Chief Executive Officer Karam Chand said the award of the World’s Leading Cabin Crew and Asia’s Leading Cabin Crew by World Travel Awards is well earned and a reflection of RB’s service strategy and single-mindedness in establishing RB as a well-respected global brand.

“The award demonstrates that we have won the hearts and minds of our guests and travel professionals worldwide and a stamp of approval of our hard work, dedication and world class service over a number of years,” said the CEO.

Winning the World category as global leader in cabin crew, the CEO said, marks a new chapter in RB’s proud history and more recently as a boutique airline standing above the much bigger and well-resourced global airlines.

“Being a boutique airline requires us to clearly differentiate ourselves from others. There is no better way than with the Bruneian hospitality that comes from the heart combined with our service vision through the thought of the little things we do and one that cannot be duplicated by the competitors,” said the CEO.

Karam Chand also congratulated all cabin crew, cabin crew management and staff, the trainers, the project team behind the award.

“My heartfelt and sincerest gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Brunei Government and our Board for the trust and support extended to RB,” Chand said.

Also virtually congratulating RB for being voted World’s Leading Cabin Crew was World Travel Awards founder Graham E Cooke.

“The entire team possesses an incredible passion for raising inflight services to an entirely new level, and I am delighted that this has been acknowledged by both the travel trade and consumers,” said Cooke.

The event yesterday also saw the presentation of an appreciation plaque to RB Chief Operations Officer Captain Saiful Bahrin bin Bahar by the guest of honour alongside RB’s Acting CEO Nurbahriah Eliza binti Abdullah.

Also present were RB Board members and staff as well as guests.

The prestigious accolade was awarded to RB after the national carrier received the most number of votes in a worldwide poll from guests, travellers and travel professionals across the globe. As the regional winner of Asia’s Leading Cabin Crew was announced on November 3, RB progressed to the grand finale where winners of the prestigious World categories were unveiled.

This saw RB competing against 17 airlines including leaders of the industry.

The WTA brand, established in 1993, is regarded globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence across all key sectors of travel, tourism and hospitality.
