A handover ceremony for the 2021 Chairmanship of the Conference of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO) was recently held between the Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei and this year’s host, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA).
The ceremony was conducted virtually at the PUJA Hub, where Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar witnessed the handover of the CAFEO Chairmanship to the PUJA Brunei President Ir Haji Mohammad Zin bin Haji Salleh.
Representing PUJA Brunei to receive the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO) flag was Second Secretary at the Brunei Embassy in Vietnam Ahmad Iskandar bin Haji Bahar, who attended the closing and handover ceremonies at the invitation of VUSTA.
The ceremonies were witnessed live by PUJA Council members and engineers, through the Zoom platform.
The 38th CAFEO was hosted by VUSTA from November 20-26, in a virtual event among ASEAN member countries, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 1982, CAFEO has been held annually at different member institutions, on a rotating alphabetical order. For the 39th CAFEO in 2021, PUJA Brunei adopted ‘Engineering and Climate Change’, as the main theme.
PUJA Brunei was host to the 29th CAFEO in Brunei Darussalam in 2011.
Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Immediate Past President of PUJA Yang Berhormat FDr Ar Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman and the ASEAN Engineering Registrar (AER) Brunei Ir Dato Haji Othman bin Haji Ya’akub, as well as registered committee members and members of the Engineer Division of PUJA Brunei attended the handover ceremony.
