Mohd Hafizhu Nurul Alamin bin Mohammad from Employees Trust Fund (TAP) and Noraimah binti Napiah from the Royal Customs and Excise Department were named top Qari and Qariah in the Al-Quran Recitation Competition for the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) and departments under it yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, the guest of honour, presented prizes and certificates to the winners and souvenirs to the judges.
Permanent secretaries, head of departments and divisions, officers and staff at the MoFE also attended.
Haji Mohammad Basren bin Haji Bintang from the Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) and Norizan binti Abdullah from the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) were first runners-up while Pengiran Muhammad Ilyas bin Pengiran Haji Masri from BIA and Nur Shahreena binti Abdullah from TAP were second runners-up.
The competition was held at the Theatre Hall on November 26 where six Qaris and eight Qariahs participated.
The annual event aims to encourage Al-Quran recitation among officers and staff at the MoFE. This year’s event was organised by TAP.
