KS Food Industries officially opened its commercial production kitchen facility at Jaya Setia Square at Jalan Komersial Jaya Setia, with a grand ceremony yesterday.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism cum guest of honour Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong officiated the opening ceremony.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
KS Food Industries Chairman Pengiran Irwan Ab Rahaman said the opening of its commercial production kitchen facility is to produce their premium serunding under the product label Fennel & Dill.
“Dating as far back as the 1970s as a small family run home-based business, Fennel & Dill’s recipe has been an age-old multi-generational family recipe, handed down over three generations,” he said.

In 2018, KS Food Industries was formed as a business venture between the family and a group of business associates, aimed at scaling up production and distribution of Brunei’s premium serunding, which uses 100 per cent Australian beef. The new commercial kitchen, albeit small in size, allows for this scale up, Pengiran Irwan said.
“Already Brunei Halal-certified, we are moving a step further, undergoing ISO and HACCP certification, as it is our intention to not only cater to the local demand, but to look at opportunities for international exports of our premium beef seruding and other products currently in the research and development (R&D) stages,” he added.
The event proceeded with the signing of the opening ceremony plaque and a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the guest of honour, Chairman of KS Food Industries and business partners Ahmad Mamdoh and George Lim.
The minister toured the production kitchen, while The Brunei Hotel chef introduced dishes from the Serunding Food Display showing a variety of delicacies paired with the Fennel & Dill Serunding Original.
