Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) and Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) celebrated the first World Patient Safety Day with this year’s theme ‘Health Worker Safety: A Priority for Patient Safety’ yesterday.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in his capacity as JPMC Chairman and Executive Director and PJSC Deputy Chairman was the guest of honour.
In a remark, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham honoured all professions that have contributed to the positive impacts on JPMC and PJSC.
“It is our mission to spread the ‘Importance of Quality’ in all aspects of healthcare, both the clinical and non-clinical departments,” he said.
“As we comply with the Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, we ensure safe and quality services are delivered to our clients, as the clients are the focus of the theme for this year’s World Quality Day and World Patient Safety Day. It is our clients who define the quality of our services.”

The objectives of World Quality Day and World Patient Safety Day are to enhance global understanding of patients’ safety, increase public engagement in healthcare safety and promote global actions to enhance patients’ safety and reduce harm.
In line with the theme of World Quality Day, patients’ safety became a top priority when World Patient Safety Day is recognised as the importance of global health.
The event was highlighted on this year’s World Quality Day ‘Creating Customer Value’ comprising patients, families, vendors, and everyone that both health institutions work with.
As a healthcare provider, both JPMC and PJSC recognise that it is the clients that define the quality of their services.
For this year’s World Quality Day, as a combined celebration with World Patient Safety Day, JPMC and PJSC conducted an internal video competition, where the goal was to create a video individually or with a team, following the themes of the World Quality Day 2020 and/or World Patient Safety Day 2020.
PJSC Executive Director Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Besar, medical director, senior management and staff of JPMC and PJSC were also present.
