The National Road Safety Council (MKKJR) held a nationwide recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil on Thursday night to commemorate victims of road traffic accidents in conjunction with the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2020.
The event sought blessings from Allah the Almighty for the safety of Bruneians, especially road users from any accidents.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof was the guest of honour at the Brunei-Muara District ceremony, held at the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque.
Permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), chief executive officers, heads of departments, officers and staff at the MTIC and MKKJR members were present.
Also present were members of the Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA), taxi operators, and representatives from driving schools.
The ceremony began with a mass Maghrib prayer followed by Sunnat Hajat prayer, recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa. A mass Isyak prayer followed. The prayers were led by Mosque Affairs Officer Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran.
The ceremony held at the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, Kuala Belait was attended by Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin, Head of the Land Transport Department Belait District Branch Pengiran Khairul Yusra bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusuf and village heads.
The mass Maghrib prayer was led by Haji Mohd Alias bin Bakar. The Sunnat Ba’diyah prayer, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil were led by Mosque Affairs Officer Imam Akop bin Haji Lamat.
Meanwhile, Acting Tutong District Officer Md Amirul Hadi bin Haji Md Tajudin attended the ceremony in the Tutong District, held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque.
In the Temburong District, it was held at the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque, Pekan Bangar. Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu and Acting Temburong District Officer Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubarak bin Pengiran Haji Hashim and were present.
