Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Syababul Iman group of Sultan Sharif Ali Sengkurong Mosque held the closing ceremony for the 2nd Kem Belia Harapan programme recently.
The programme, themed ‘Hero Within’, ended with a special forum session, attended by participants and their parents, and a presentation of certificates and prizes to the best group.
Over 100 youth comprising members of mosque youth groups from Ashabul Akhyar of Lumapas Mosque, Ashabul Haliim of Pengiran Muda Abdul Malik Mosque in Kampong Tungku, Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Youth and Syababurroja of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah participated in the programme.
Apart from nightly religious talks (Qiamullail), congregational prayers and mass Zikir recitation, the four-day programme also included leadership, team strengthening and community activities as well as charity project.
Participants also distributed food to underprivileged families under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council assistance programme.
The donations were contributed by Ayam Lepas Restaurant, HTC Restaurant, GK Restaurant, Les Tulips Restaurant, Nasi Ayam Mulaut Restaurant, Pondok Sari Wangi Restaurant, Raziqin Restaurant, Soto Haji Tuah Restaurant, and CA Mohammed.
Participant Abdul Majid bin Haji Shazli said, “I learnt a lot from the camp, especially in terms of character and spirituality, traits that I find important in facing today’s challenges.”
The programme aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility and trust, while challenging the participants mentally, emotionally and physically. It was also held to encourage youth to spend their free time immersing in productive activities.
