Members of the Diplomatic Corps hosted a farewell dinner for outgoing Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Brunei Darussalam Marcal Avelino Ximenes and spouse, Jesuina Romana, at The Empire Brunei last night.
Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, on behalf of the diplomatic community, expressed farewell wishes and congratulated the departing on for his successful tenure.
“We congratulate you for the advancements in Brunei-Timor-Leste bilateral relations during the course of your tenure. We happily observed that Brunei and Timor-Leste bilateral ties have significantly grown in many important fields, notably in education, health and sports,” he said.
Elaborating on the advancements in Brunei-Timor-Leste relations during the ambassadors tenure, the dean recalled July 2019, when the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste visited Brunei Darussalam, helping to further strengthen ties between both countries.
Marcal Avelino Ximenes extended appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, members of the royal family, the Government of Brunei Darussalam and the Diplomatic Corps for their cooperation and support during his tenure in the Sultanate.
Hasanaa Al-Musalhi, the dean’s spouse, presented a bouquet of flowers to Jesuina Romana.
Marcal Avelino Ximenes presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty on February 15, 2017.
