Progresif Media debuted a locally produced original series, Serpihan Masa Lalu at a screening premiere at Times Cineplex at The Empire Brunei yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Community and Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari was the guest of honour.
Progresif Media in a statement said the three-part miniseries is about a coming of age story of friendship, love and heartbreak set against a backdrop of some of Brunei’s most picturesque settings.
It follows a 21-year-old bookworm Dalilah (played by Wafiqah Abu Bakar), who, encouraged by her friends, begins to explore what the universe has to offer, including enduring the highs and lows of the first love and first heartbreak. The series was produced through collaborative effort between Vertex Films, NHAT Studio and Kashf Kreative, and features Safwan Sofian, Hamizan Iman, Yaseerah Husny, Selina Khoo, Amir Shamri, Ayesha Said, Aiman Mateen and Fakhrul Razi.
The streaming platform also presented mock cheques to the producers, a symbolic gesture for the revenue sharing agreement that will see the content creators paid per every stream of each episode, which will be hosted exclusively on the Progresif Media streaming platform.
Head of Progresif Media Olivia Ong expressed her satisfaction that the app was able to launch their first original local series only a few months after their launch last August.
“We are proud to have Serpihan Masa Lalu as the first ever Progresif Media Original. We hope this production will be well-received by the audience. We are excited for future collaborations with local content creators,” Olivia said.
