The first batch of ready-to-slaughter lamb arrived in the country yesterday, ending the shortage of lamb experienced in the country, PDS Abattoir Sdn Bhd (PDS) announced.

The arrival of the first delivery (370 heads) yesterday marks a milestone for PDS with additional heads scheduled to arrive today and tomorrow.

The first batch of over 2,000 heads arrived in the country by air freight in the presence of PDS officials and authorities at the Brunei International Airport Cargo Centre (BIACC).

Meanwhile, PDS has also completed the construction of a sheep yard in Kampong Batang Mitus.

The sheep will be housed and slaughtered at the PDS’ sheep yard after which the meat will be made available for distributors, restaurants and supermarkets from December 22.

PDS, in support of the national food security initiative under the Ministry of Finance and Economy and in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, has also taken the lead in bringing additional ready-to-slaughter live cattle from Australia.

PDS is a joint venture company under the purview of Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd. As a leading accredited Halal and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified facility, PDS’ core business activities include the importation of livestock from Australia, the production of fresh and chilled beef and processed products.
