The role of senior citizens as the undeniable rock-solid foundation of our society and their active contributions have encourage the government, particularly the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) to become more responsive to their needs, said Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rts) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

“Their active involvement shows that age is not a barrier for one to continue to contribute to society,” the minister said during the launch of a poetry book by Dino M, a member of the Tutong Senior Citizen Activity Centre (PKWE), at the end of the Serumpun Kasih Sehati Sejiwa event.

The MCYS will continue to provide better services in working towards an age-inclusive society, the minister added. The ceremony began with the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran and Tahlil followed by speeches from the chairperson and the minister.

The event also saw the reading of poems by Dino M and several performances by members of the centre to enliven the occasion. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Saidah binti Haji Wahid was also present.
