In the eight years of its establishment, the Brunei Fuzhou Shiyyi Association has undergone a timeline of many challenges together and has also proudly grown through those phases with perseverance and ingenuity, said Jackson Ting Jack Hing, the association’s president for the third term.

He made these comments at the association’s 4th Executive Inauguration and Oath Taking ceremony for the newly elected 2021-2023 members at the association’s building in Jalan Pasir Berakas on Wednesday.

Ting said, “Year 2020 was a year impacted by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. The Fuzhou Shiyyi Association was at a standstill, which disrupted the pace of the association.

“But I believe the pandemic served as a golden opportunity to slow down, reconnect with our loved ones and be grateful.”

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong witnessed the oath-taking and signing ceremony.

A similar ceremony was held for the association’s new Women and Youth League members.

Dr Andy Lau Sie Chuong was re-elected as deputy president, while the four vice presidents are Raymond Ting Sie Kiong, Ting Tiaw Khing, Chieng Ing Nang and Wong Nan Luk.

The Head of the Youth Division is Katherine Hii Peck Ngah, while the Head of the Women’s Division is Faye Hwong Siew Ngee.

Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong, and Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin were also present.
