Continuous downpour and unpredictable weather have led to rising water levels in the interior regions of Tutong District, with several villages including Kampong Rambai, Kampong Kuala Ungar, Kampong Panchong, Kampong Bukit, Kampong Layong and Kampong Penapar experiencing heavy flooding and impassable roadways.

Tutong District Disaster Management Centre (DDMC) held a meeting at the Lamunin Fire Station and activated the Incidence Command Post to coordinate assistance to the villagers.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit attended the meeting along with the Tutong DDMC officers and village heads.

Tutong District Officer and Tutong District DDMC Chair Ajmin bin Haji Meludin oversaw the meeting before taking a closer look at the affected roads.

Meanwhile, a transport vehicle from the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) was stationed in Jalan Belunu Kampong Layong, to assist the villagers in need.

Since the recent spate of heavy rains, the Tutong District DDMC have joined forces with security agencies in the Tutong District, as well as community leaders in the affected villages to provide relief efforts.

The RBAF has also been conducting regular patrols, to keep watch on vehicles parked along affected roads. Police signs have also been set up.

The Tutong District DDMC reminded the public to be vigilant and take safety measures during rainy seasons, and to keep children from venturing into flooded areas.
