A number of low-lying areas in the Belait District were flooded last night due to spells of heavy downpours.
Among the affected areas were Belait town, especially near the Belait River; Jalan Sungai, Jalan Tengah, especially near Tudong Saji; and Jalan Bunga Rambai, around the Gudang Beras Multipurpose Hall.
The Belait District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) stated the floods were due to heavy rain experienced last night, coupled with the slow retreat of water from the river.
The DEOC will continue to monitor the situation.
Low-lying areas of Seria and rural areas in Belait have also been affected by floods.
The public and road users are urged to follow the latest weather alerts and advisories issued by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) as well as staying vigilant when travelling on flood prone roads, specially low-lying areas.
