A temporary two-week postponement is in place on granting permission to Brunei-registered parcel runners and foreign nationals from Malaysia, including transit travellers entering the country via land or sea.
This is by the command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The Steering Committee on the Border Crossing Affairs announced several regulation updates for entering and exiting the country via land and sea control posts.
According to Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong at the Ministry of Health press conference yesterday, the updates were made following Malaysia’s implementation of a two-week movement control order (MCO) which commences today, and the announcement of the state of emergency, which took effect yesterday.
Meanwhile, drivers and passengers of emergency services transportation including ambulance, police, army and those with official government affairs, as well as transport operators delivering food and other essentials to Brunei Darussalam will be permitted to enter according to existing regulations that have been set.
Permission for commuters travelling via land or sea for employment in Brunei Darussalam has also being halted for two weeks. They are advised to stay at their current workplace or obtain leave during the postponement period.
Transport operators (registered in the country or foreign nationals registered in Malaysia) delivering food and other essential goods are required to undergo a SARS-CoV2-RT-PCR test every once a week, instead of once every two weeks as in the previous edition of
the regulations.
The updated regulations take effect today.
