The official logo to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China was unveiled by Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and the People’s Republic of China’s State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi during a ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday.
Designed by Mohammad Aliff bin Haji Madial of the Architect Section of the Technical Services Department under the Public Works Department, the logo’s design concept includes four elements – people, transportation, trade and diplomatic relations.
Mohammad Aliff was named the winner of a recent competition to find a logo that symbolises the historical milestone for the two countries. The contest was jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam.
Wang Yi presented a certificate to Mohammad Aliff for his contribution.
Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China established diplomatic relations on September 30, 1991. In 2013, the bilateral relations were elevated to a strategic cooperative relationship during the State Visit of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to the People’s Republic of China.
The ties were further promoted to a strategic cooperative partnership during China’s President Xi Jinping’s State Visit to Brunei Darussalam in 2018.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong as well as senior government officials witnessed the ceremony.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan also presented a memento to Wang Yi.
Prior to the launch, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan and Wang Yi attended the Joint Steering Committee Meeting.
