A Doa Kesyukuran ceremony for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) 16th International Monitoring Team-Mindanao (IMT-M16) contingent and Brunei contingent under Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-7 for United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was held at the Surau Ad-Difa’ of the Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
The IMT-M16 contingent led by Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mutalip bin Bujang comprising seven RBAF personnel and an officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) returned to Brunei Darussalam on November 17, 2020. The Brunei contingent MALBATT 850-7 under Major Mohd Hishamuddin bin Haji Marzoki returned home on December 4, 2020.
Both contingents had served more than the 12-month cycle due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, RBAF Commander Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, RBPF Deputy Commissioner Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohd Jefri bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah were present at the ceremony.
Joint Force Commander, service commanders, deputy permanent secretaries, military and civilian directors, senior officials and staff of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF also attended.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Al-Quran verses, followed by Dikir Marhaban, Doa Kesyukuran and mass Asar prayer led by Imam of Surau Ad-Difa’ Shuib bin Haji Abdullah.
