A forum to bring awareness on cardiovascular health was held at the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque yesterday.
The forum, dubbed Jantung Hatiku, held in conjunction with this year’s Knowledge Convention, saw discussions from medical and spiritual perspectives.
It was moderated by Special Duties Officer Grade II at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Muhammad Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid.
Panellists included Director of the Centre for Promotion of Knowledge and Language at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili and Head of Cardiology Unit and Consultant at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Dr Mohamad Ezam bin Emran.
An exhibition was also held showcasing the importance of learning about non-communicable diseases, leading a healthy lifestyle, caring for health according to the Sunnah, free health checks and prayers for the ill.
Legislative Council member and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Labi Yang Berhormat Hanapi bin Mohd Siput was the guest of honour. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang and Belait District Head of Religious Officer Mohamad Aliyani bin Ismail were also present.
Similar forums and exhibitions will be held in mosques, community halls and shopping complexes nationwide until February as part of the Knowledge Convention 2020 programme.
Meanwhile, a forum titled Gaya Hidup Sihat will be held today at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Tutong District.
