“With the international standards certification and better management systems in place, companies will be able to produce better output,” said Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) and DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) Board member Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman.

He said this during a networking event, ‘Tea & Talk’ organised by DARe at Mutiara Ballroom, Radisson Hotel for companies from three DARe initiatives – Standards Consultancy Programme (SCP), DARe LINKS, and Programme Elevate.

“Successfully achieving international standards can positively influence the public perception on procurement, and quality of end products and services. With the international standards such as the ISO certification being acknowledged internationally, the trade between countries would be less difficult, and your businesses will be able to access new markets and customers can offer even better opportunities,” he added.

Meanwhile, DARe CEO Javed Ahmad said 15 companies have successfully attained international certification under DARe’s Standards Consultancy Programme, with 31 participating companies still undergoing the programme.

“Other DARe initiatives, including the DARe LINKS programme and Programme Elevate were created to promote micro, small and medium enterprise (MSMEs) growth and further contribute to the diversification of the Bruneian economy and the success of economic blueprint,” he added.

Since the launch of SCP in September 2018, 15 companies have been certified with the ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), HACCP & ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management System), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), and ISO 18295 (Customer Contact Centre standard).

Currently, 30 companies are in the process of receiving certification while 174 companies have been trained in various modules including ISO9001, ISO45001, HACCP, ISO 22000,
and GMP.

Sharing sessions from certified companies – Nuara Group Sdn Bhd, Bellary Enterprise, and Tasconi’s International Sdn Bhd were also held.
