Youth empowerment and sustainability are crucial components to building a better economy for a nation.
Head of Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre (EIC) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) cum Harvard Global Education Movement (HGEM) keynote speaker Dr Adna Shatriremie bin Haji Abdul Rahman highlighted this during the virtual Harvard Innovation Challenge Southeast Asia II (HIC SEA II) Conference, which commenced on January 15.
Dr Adna Shatriremie, appointed as youth empowerment judge for the HIC SEA II in the Youth Empowerment category, also discussed how entrepreneurial thinking and behaviour in an ecosystem can lead to a stronger economy.
He was invited as a keynote speaker by Harvard University (United States of America) through the Harvard Global Education Movement.
Dr Adna Shatriremie shared his journey from being an entrepreneur to an entrepreneurship educator, mentor and ecosystem builder. His involvement and contribution with both academia and pragmatic exposure and practice within the entrepreneurship ecosystem of Brunei Darussalam, Southeast Asia, and San Diego, California (US) helped pave the way for the concept of entrepreneurship to have its own (Bruneian) identity, and have it embedded within society (especially through education).
Dr Adna Shatriremie also offered insight and a professional perception to the Business Model Canvas with the pragmatic ‘Smart Experiment’, a relatively simplified methodology which he had the opportunity to share and test within the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), resulting in University of California San Diego’s invitation to have him be a panel speaker and lead trainer for entrepreneurship programmes.
The conference organised by the HIC SEA II was a collaboration between Harvard Undergraduate Global Education Movement with the Global Citizen.
The three-day conference was participated by international students and academia globally. Also in attendance as esteemed speakers were Professor of Environmental Studies at Yale-NUS College Anthony Medrano; Executive Director of ASEAN Foundation Dr Yang Mee Eng; Director of Communication, Culture and Enablement at Ray Allen Inc Solonia Teodros and Climate Policy Initiative Director Tiza Mafira.
