HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday arrived safely in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic to attend the 28th and 29th Asean Summits and Related Summits, which will be held September 6-8 at the National Convention Centre, Vientiane.
Present at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane to greet His Majesty was Sommart Pholsena, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
Also present to greet His Majesty was Haji Na’aim bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
His Majesty then walked past a Static Guard of Honour, before boarding a motorcade toward a renowned hotel in Vientiane, where His Majesty will reside throughout the 28th and 29th Asean Summits and Related Summits.
This year’s theme of ‘Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic Asean Community’, serves as fitting platform for Asean to focus its efforts on further strengthening the Asean Community by implementing, among others, the Asean Community Vision 2025.
The 28th and 29th Asean Summits and Related Summits will be attended by Heads of State and Government of Asean, as well as the leaders of eight dialogue partners comprising of Australia, the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Republic of India, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, the Russian Federation, and the United States of America, as well as representatives from the United Nations (UN).
Earlier in Brunei Darussalam before leaving Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and other members of the royal family.
Also present to bid farewell to His Majesty were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, members of the Privy Council, deputy ministers, the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, the Commissioner of Police and the Chargé d’Affaires from the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Brunei Darussalam.
