THE collaboration between DST and Politeknik Brunei was officially marked yesterday with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the ‘Apprenticeship Training Programme’ during a ceremony held at the DST Headquarters in Tungku Link.

Present as guest of honour and witness to the signing was Abdul Latiff bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, a member of DST Board of Directors.

Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Hussain, CEO of DST, in his welcoming remarks noted that the MoU will forge a formal collaboration in providing collective training to Politeknik Brunei students for courses in business, engineering, telecommunications and info-communication technology.

“The programme is by nature distinctive to other similar attachment programmes as DST’s contribution includes assisting Politeknik Brunei in setting up the relevant syllabus and subse-quently create structured on-the-job training to Politeknik Brunei students with ?rst hand exposure, experience and insight on the actual working environment of DST as an established telecommunication company,” he said.

The CEO also emphasised how the programme is in line with DST’s mission to invest in human capital development. Through the programme, DST will have a competent work-force while, at the same time, contribute to the development of the country’s future economy.
