The second batch of ready-to-slaughter sheep imported from Australia by PDS Abattoir Sdn Bhd (PDS) arrived in the country midnight on Monday via a cargo flight operated by Malaysian Airlines.
PDS senior staff led by General Manager Haji Muhd Sabirin bin Haji Othman as well as other officials oversaw the arrival of the 1,004 heads of ready-to-slaughter sheep.
PDS is a joint venture company under the purview of Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd. As a leading accredited Halal and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified facility, importation of livestock from Australia, and production of fresh and chilled beef and processed products are its core business activities.
Travel restrictions due to COVID-19 continue to affect the availability of imported frozen and processed meat, lamb and chicken into Brunei Darussalam.
PDS continues to support the national food security initiative under the Ministry of Finance and Economy and in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.
Ready-to-slaughter live cattle from Australia have been brought down since last year and live sheep from Indonesia in December 2020.
