The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shell LiveWIRE Brunei yesterday, seeing Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin as the guest of honour.

The MoU aims to enhance cooperation and obtain expert services, particularly in the field of entrepreneurship, to encourage youth involvement and increase youth potential in entrepreneurship, said Permanent Secretary (Strategy and Policy Management) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan.

He said the Youth Development Centre (PPB) under the MCYS, helps create competent and marketable youth by embedding in them knowledge and skills in line with market needs.

In strengthening PPB’s role, one of the collaborations between the Youth Development Centre and LiveWIRE was implemented with the aims of improving the YDC Lights On Programme. This includes obtaining expert services to produce more high-impact programme softwares by highlighting the latest business strategies such as intensive marketing and further meeting sales targets; complying with business standard operating procedures (SOPs); and applying the use of e-commerce platforms in transactions, Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan said.

It is hoped that the YDC Lights On Programme participants will be able to utilise the acquired knowledge when participating in entrepreneurship programmes organised by Brunei Shell Petroleum, such as LiveWIRE Business Awards or i-Usahawan Programme.
