Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Academy programmes are gaining favour with stakeholders and the public. This is reflected in the increase in applicants to Diploma in Technical Education programme with 64 participants due to start in July.

This was said by Acting Director of Technical Education at Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli during a certificate presentation at IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus for 10 trainees who completed the Foundation in Technical Education (FTE) course and another 10 trainees who completed the National Technical Education Certificate (NTec) in Caregiver (Cancer Care) course recently.

Dr Haji Mohd Zamri said TVET Academy provides training programmes for professional development for teachers and NTec in Caregiver (Cancer Care) course is a collaboration between IBTE and Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC).

He said according to Ministry of Health (MoH) statistics, 704 Brunei residents were diagnosed with cancer in 2019. This not only has a huge impact on the patients’ lives but also their family members.

The introduction of the NTec in Caregivers (Cancer Care) course in 2019 was aimed at meeting the demand for special care including medication, treatment, nutrition and hygiene, he added.
