In conjunction with Gastronomy Week, an event was held on Sunday to promote and upgrade local cuisine as well as recognise youth talents that are passionate in the culinary field.
Held at Avenue 41 in Kampong Kiarong, the event saw Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong attending a fine dining concept featuring creations from local chefs Muris, U’zaiz, Aziz Mokhsen, Terry Wong, Kahar El-Fiarra and Jason Lew.
Present to jointly support the event were Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
Themed ‘Taste of Brunei’, the presentation of signature dishes combined traditional and contemporary elements of the local cuisine, such as ‘shrimp umai ceviche’, ‘kedayan plate’, ‘beef two-ways’ and ‘kueh mueh melayu reimagined’.
Also present were permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders.
