The newly elected Brunei Institution of Geomatics (BIG) Council of the 2021-2023 session made a courtesy call on Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar.
President of BIG Haji Ali Bakar bin Haji Kasim led the official visit, followed by Vice President Haji Mohd Don bin Haji Omar, Secretary General Haji Mahadi bin Haji Mohd Tahir and Treasurer Nor Liza binti Haji Mohd Daud.
Survey Department’s Surveyor General Haji Arefin bin Haji Jaya, Acting Assistant Surveyor General Dayangku Siti Saihalina binti Pengiran Haji Ibrahim and Surveyor Hajah Nona Lieza binti Haji Yahya were also present.
Among the matters discussed during the meeting were; the roles of BIG in the national development of the country in the fields of land surveying and GIS mapping, planning and real estate while also working closely with the Ministry of Development; BIG’s contribution to the government and private agencies in co-organising seminars and workshops especially to its members and stakeholders; and the Global Surveyors’ Day, which will be jointly organised by the institution and the Survey Department on March 21.
