THE Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, recently hosted a gathering for five recipients of the Best Trainee Award under the Youth Development Programme.

The recipients were Siti Musfirazatul @ Musfira binti Mohammad, Ilyas bin Abdul Wahab, Za’im Arif bin Haji Zamain, Mohd Yudhy @ Danny bin Haji Jumat and Nur Afnizan Nazurah binti Anizam.

During the meeting, the minister told the youths that funding will be made available, in the form of microgrants, to former trainees at the Youth Development Centre (PPB) who wish to start their own businesses.

He also informed them that the City and Guilds Certificate is the best validation of their respective courses at PPB.

“The Youth Development Centre will also work closely with employers in industrial training, to increase the employability of former trainees,” he said.

“In the implementation of the 4K tasks – namely Culture, Youth, Sports and Community – the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) is working to enhance human resources.”

At the same time, the ministry is generating opportunities for all Brunei citizens and residents, including special needs people, to achieve a high level of development given their respective potential, ability and competitiveness for optimal developments.

PPB was set up in May 1996 to offer various training programmes for underprivileged youths, as well as to provide them with valuable life skills.
