Fifty-two Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (BIBD ALAF) were acknowledged for securing excellent results in the 2020 academic year at the BIBD ALAF Star Awards presentation ceremony yesterday.

BIBD Deputy Managing Director cum Chairperson of the BIBD ALAF Board of Trustees Hajah Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman presented awards to students who achieved outstanding results in the GCE ‘O’ Level, ‘A’ Level and Brunei Religious Education Certificate examination (SPUB). The ceremony was held at the BIBD ALAF Centre at the PGGMB Building.

BIBD ALAF maintained its 100 per cent pass rate, with all students sitting for the GCE ‘A’ Level exams achieving 3 ‘A’ Levels. Meanwhile, in the GCE ‘O’ Level exams and SPUB exams, BIBD ALAF students continued to maintain excellent results.

Pengiran Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin from the BIBD ALAF Board of Trustees presented Academic Excellence Awards to the top scorers for the Primary School Assessment (PSR) Exam. BIBD ALAF students maintained a 100-per-cent pass rate, with eight achieving 5As – an increase from six students the year before.

The Academic Excellence Awards for secondary students were presented by BIBD Chief Marketing Officer Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Haji Mohd Jaafar. Eleven students were recognised for scoring 85 per cent and above in the examinations.

Head of Structured Finance at BIBD Corporate Banking Group Abdul ‘Azim bin Haji Mohammad handed out awards to 21 primary students for their stellar academic performance.

Hajah Noraini said, “I am proud to note that despite the difficulties 2020 brought us, especially with virtual learning, Alhamdulillah, we have witnessed excellence. Congratulations to all our ALAF children today. Please continue to achieve better results in the future.”

Meanwhile, Hajah Nurul Akmar said, “Despite the disruptions brought on by COVID-19 last year, our students, especially those sitting for public examinations, showed remarkable dedication and resilience in overcoming these challenges. We are extremely proud of them for their amazing achievements.”

The BIBD ALAF programme, which supports 243 students, is a manifestation of BIBD’s belief in the value of life-long learning in line with the objectives of the Brunei Vision 2035, and illustrates the bank’s dedication to being a partner in progress for the nation.
