THE ninth edition of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD)’s Home Showcase officially kicked off yesterday.
The showcase was launched at its Kiulap branch, in an opening ceremony that featured a ‘Farmer’s Market’ theme that saw the participation of reputable and prominent partners in the property, realtor and housing development industry, as well as local young, well-known and rising entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Deputy Managing Director of BIBD Hajah Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman was guest of honour at the event.
The proceedings began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a prayer to bless the occasion, following which the guest of honour officially launched the showcase, marking the beginning of a series of events that has been organised to take place over a month.
As BIBD explained in a press release, unlike previous exhibitions, this edition of the Home Showcase is designed with a unique concept and theme that looks to appeal to the “young, high-flyer, sophisticated individuals, who are looking to purchase and design a home that is modern and comfortable, and that fits their personality.”
Understanding the different expectations of this market segment, BIBD has partnered with My Space Gallery Sdn Bhd – a home, office, and building solutions provider and design and product consultancy) to showcase a range of reliable, affordable and quality products, as well as knowledge-based specification, while providing excellent after-sales services for customers.
In addition, to set the tone and ambience for the showcase, BIBD is supported by the creative team from The Collective Arts Events, to create a different and unique theme and design for each showcase, reflecting a transformative view of BIBD as “a bank for everyone”, and engaging with the public through fun activities.
In the press release, Hajah Noraini is quoted as saying, “The Home Showcase is a flagship event for the bank, which aims to create awareness and instil an appreciation on home ownership, as well as to educate our customers and the public on the importance of financial planning.
“Customers and the public need to understand that by prioritising their financials, it can bring them closer to achieving their goals – be it to build a home that is safe and comfortable; fund their own education to upgrade themselves or their children; select suitable investment that is sustainable, ultimately providing them and their families with peace of mind,” she added.
The Home Showcase has a focus on educating and emphasising the importance of home ownership to the younger customers, as they are able to take up the maximum repayment tenure of 25 years with a lower monthly repayment, as opposed to owning a home at a later age with an increased monthly repayment and higher insurance.
At the Kiulap branch yesterday, BIBD’s personal bankers were on hand to carry out financial health checks and compute financial risk appetite, which helps the customers search for a suitable property that is within their means.
Well-known property agencies involved in the showcase include Primeland, Bess Perfect, JFA, BN Harta Jati and Wintersky, who provided a selection of properties to appeal to different customer segments. In line with yesterday’s ‘Farmer’s Market’ theme, a number of young local entrepreneurs and SMEs also had their various products and wares on offer.
Throughout the duration of the Home Showcase, customers will be able to enjoy special promotional rate on home improvement financing, education financing, personal financing, consolidation financing and special waivers on processing fees.
Customers will also receive special sign-up gifts when they fill in BIBD’s financial health check, as well as enjoy special packages from My Space Gallery Sdn Bhd. The promotions will be available at participating branches in Tanjung Bunut, Rimba, Kiulap, Kuala Belait and the main branch.
In conjunction with the showcase, BIBD has also come up with two key campaigns, which includes an Instagram competition aimed at inspiring customers to start dreaming about their ideal home. This competition began on September 9, and will run until October 3, 2016, and participants are asked to take a photo that portrays what a home means to them and hashtag #BIBDwhathomemeans on their Instagram account.
The winners of the competition will have the change to attend the Home Showcase’s ‘Signature Pop-up Dinner’ on September 21, in addition to receiving a shopping voucher worth $50.
In addition, children aged four to 15 years will also be able to participate in a drawing competition, which is intended to give younger members of the public an opportunity to share their thoughts and vision on what home ownership means to them.
Through this activity, the bank said that it hopes to create awareness on the importance of home ownership at an early age, as well as to provide them with an understanding of financial planning.
Participants can submit their art to The Collective Arts by October 14, and the top three winners will receive prizes worth $200, $100 and $50 in the form of cash deposit accounts for first, second and third place respectively.
