TWO hundred underprivileged families in the Belait District yesterday received containers of sacrificial meat from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, during a ceremony held at the Kuala Belait Convention Centre.
Deputy Minister of Defence First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit handed over the sacrificial meat to the recipients.
The day also saw the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and the sounding of Takbir Hari Raya led by Akop bin Haji Lamat, a Mosque Affairs Officer of the Belait District.
According to a press release issued by the Public Relations and Research Division, the religious act of Korban should only be carried during the four days from the moment after the Khatib recites the Hari Raya Aidiladha Khutbah until just before sunset of 13th Zulhijjah of the Islamic calendar.
Also present at the event was Belait District Officer Haji Haris bin Othman, senior officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, heads of department and divisions of the Belait District branch, as well as Mukim Penghulus and village heads in the Belait District.
