BRUNEI vendors participating in the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) had the opportunity to promote their establishments at the ‘Invest in Brunei’ National Promotional Conference held at the Nanning International Conference and Exibition Centre.
One of the speakers, Dato Paduka Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Executive Director and Medical Director of Jerudong Park Medical Centre highlighted the facilities available at the renowned hospital, especially the state-of-the-art National Cancer Centre.
“Healthcare in Brunei comes second after Singapore and most people do not know this. We hope through this promotion here (CAEXPO), we are able to further promote the wide spectrum of healthcare services, including specialised and surgical healthcare services, that attract regional patients to our outpatient department,” he said.
He said JPMC is surrounded by the tranquility of nature, offering an ideal ambience for healing and wellness for the whole family. He added that patient rooms overlook the beautiful beach where patients can enjoy a sense of serenity and privacy and the soothing cadence of the waves.
On the sideline of the conference, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office said Brunei “will do our best” to help and facilitate potential investment, including support and swift consideration for approvals.
“The cost and ease of doing business in Brunei Darussalam are continuously being reviewed so we can be more effective, more efficient and more competent compared to other countries in the region,” he said.
He welcomed businesses and companies from China to engage and invest in Brunei by visiting the Sultanate to assess for themselves and hopefully follow the footsteps of fellow Chinese companies such as Hengyi, Hiseaton and Beibu.
This is evident with the economic ties between Brunei and China having grown in recent years, including bilateral trade statistics passing the USD 1 billion mark in 2014 and 2015.
“With the potential for synergy and economic cooperation greater than ever between both parties, I firmly believe we can expect more success, partnerships and prosperity between Brunei and China in the next few years,” added the minister.
Among the other Bruneian establishments that delivered a presentation during the promotional conference were the Brunei Economic Developmnet Board (BEDB), Jerudong International School and International School Brunei.
