IN conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, the Ministry of Health (MoH) hosted a Korban and Aqiqah ceremony yesterday at the MoH’s Al-‘Afiah Hall.
Present as the guest of honour to hand over the Korban (sacrificial) meat to male recipients was the Minister of Health, Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi.
Also present were Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health; Dr Hajah Maslina binti Haji Mohsin, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health as well as officers and staff.
The Korban meat was distributed to the female recipients by Dr Hajah Maslina.
Six buffaloes were sacrificed and the meat was distributed to 300 recipients from the poor and destitute group under the MoH.
The annual ceremony is held by the MoH in order for the staff and officers to get closer to Allah the Almighty and encourage them to be more generous in giving to the less fortunate.
