THE Traffic Control and Investigation Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) together with enforcement personnel from the Land Transport Department (JPD) held a roadblock operation which was simultaneously held at three locations in the Brunei-Muara District.

The three locations were Jln Tungku Link, Jln Damuan and the Darul Takwa Jerudong highways. At Jln Damuan on the way to Jln Bunut the roadblock involved 15 traffic police personnel and two enforcement personnel from JPD. According to Sergeant 2894 Azman bin Haji Matali, the one-hour operation from 10am to 11am was held in conjunction with the school term holiday, which aimed to reduce accident rates, enforce traffic rules and regulations and safe driving among road users.

At the Damuan roadblock, five compound cases were recorded by the traffic police and 20 offences were recorded by JPD. The JPD personnel were led by Acting Senior Enforcement Officer, Syeh Mohd Yusri bin Haji Abdul Kadir, who focused on commercial vehicles. Among the offences reported were overloaded vehicles, bald tyres, non-functioning vehicle signals, and unqualified vehicles.

The offences recorded by traffic police included driving with large tyres and rims, using illegal licence plates and non-functioning brake lights and car horn. The compound cases were levied with a $50 fine.
