BRUNEI’S cyclist Muhammad Nurjamri bin Johari, in his debut in the 2016 Tour de Timor in Timor Leste, has managed to clinch 7th place in the Individual Category of the Men’s Master ‘A’ and silver in the Men’s Team Category.
He was invited and sponsored by the Giant Kuching Team to participate in the race from September 13-17.
Nurjamri bagged US$150 for his feats in the Individual Category and US$800 in the Team Category.
He told the Bulletin that the most challenging part of the race was Stage 1 where he had to cycle 1,076km at an altitude of 1,457 feet with temperatures soaring to 45 degrees Celsius.
“Also in the 4th and 5th stages, I had a technical problem with the bicycle but I managed to finish the race.
“To win and finish Stage 5 was not easy. It (weather) was very hot and I had to be strong mentally,” he added.
Nurjamri who will compete in the Asean Cup in November said, “I am in the top 5 at the moment but I will try to get into the top 3 in November.”
