NFABD National Under-16 Youth League

WITH the aim of providing youths the opportunity to play, enjoy football and gain experience at national level, the National Football Association Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) through its football development department will be organising the first-ever National Under-16 Youth League which is expected to kick off on May 1.

Registration for the National Under-16 Youth League will be opened from April 6-16.

Through the inaugural national youth league, NFABD would also provide a platform for local coaches and young referees to gain more experience and to encourage officials and players toward the behaviour of good sportsmanship as well as fair play.

The league which also aim for local football clubs to start youth development programme will consist of a minimum eight teams who will play on a round-robin format in the hope of giving more playing time to young players throughout the year.

Eligible players are those born in 2000, 2001 and 2002 while players who are born from 2003 onwards will need to obtain special permission from the technical department before getting registered.

National, permanent residents or foreign students from international schools in Brunei are eligible to take part.

Football clubs who are interested to join the first-ever Under-16 youth league will need to meet the requirement and submit their applications.

Among the criteria for registration are clubs and associations must be members and affiliated to NFABD, participating teams must provide proper management of teams by submitting team official list with designated roles and lists of players with their detail information.

Other requirements include all participating teams must have one minimum AFC ‘C’ Certificate football coach in the list of team officials.

Any other certification equivalent to AFC ‘C’ will be brought into consideration by the technical department.

Participating teams must also follow the rules and regulation set by the organising committee and show full commitment to the league.

Interested teams can obtain entry forms at the NFABD House during office hours from Monday to Friday.

Only teams who fulfill the criteria set by the organising committee will be considered and only shortlisted teams will be notified.
