PUTRAJAYA (Bernama) – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was accorded an official welcome at Dataran Perdana yesterday in conjunction with the monarch’s three-day visit to Malaysia to attend the 20th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.
His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam were greeted by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato Laila Utama Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak and his wife, Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor, upon arrival at the square.
After the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia were played, His Majesty inspected a guard of honour mounted by 106 officers and men of the 1st Battalion Royal Malay Regiment led by Major Ridzuan Basir.
The Malaysian Prime Minister then introduced His Majesty to cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats and senior government officials.
Later, His Majesty and the Malaysian Prime Minister held a four-eyed meeting.
The Annual Leaders’ Consultation is the most notable high-level event in the bilateral calendar of the two countries.
The consultation is convened alternately between the two countries.
The 19th meeting was held in Bandar Seri Begawan on August 11, 2015.
