MOHD Wafii Syafiq bin Haji Mosliadi, from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School, and Nur Afifah binti Haji Zaini have emerged first in the male and female categories respectively, at the finals of the 27th Nationwide Al-Quran Memorisation Competition for Government and Private Schools.
A total of 18 primary schoolchildren participated in the competition, which was held yesterday at the YSHHB Primary School, under the supervision of the Co-Curriculum Education Department at the Ministry of Education.
Second places went to Muhammad Bazli Taib bin Mahmud from St Andrew’s School, in the male category; and to Nur Ameerah Aleesya binti Roshahlehzam from Sinaut Primary School, in the female category.
And in third place were Awangku Md Aqiel Fauzan bin Pengiran Haji Ismail, from Tungku Primary School; and Iman Al-Humaira binti Haji Emran Ahmad Abdussalam, from Al-Falaah School.
Trophies and certificates of partici-pation were presented to the winners by Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail, the Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The competition is an annual activity conducted by the Co-Curriculum Education Department, to nurture the art of memorising Al-Quran and daily recitation among schoolchildren.
