THIRTY readers have successfully secured places in the National Qari and Qariah Competition, from a total of 65 finalists in an Al-Quran-reading competition, at the Brunei-Muara Zone and District level.
Present as the guest of honour during the final rounds at the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop, was Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer.
The first place winner of the men’s category for Zones I and II was Haji Mohd Albi bin Haji Ibrahim, followed closely by Muhammad Hasrin bin Haji Kamis in second place and Muhammad Arif bin Haji Johari in third. The first place winner of the women’s category for Zones I and II was Husna binti Basuri, with Zaiton binti Haji Abdullah and Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Ahmad coming in second and third respectively.
First place for the men’s category in Zone III went to Abdul Wafiy bin Haji Ibrahim, while second place went to Haji Abdul Ghani bin Haji Mohammad, and third place to Nazirul bin Haji Asmat.
The women’s category for Zone III saw two winners only, with Dayangku Nur Aqillah binti Pengiran Haji Ayub in first place and Hajah Hartenah binti Haji Metussin in second.
The competition finals were held for two days, on October 4-5, by the Imarah Division of the Mosque Affairs Department in cooperation with the Brunei-Muara Mosque Affairs Office and the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque Takmir committee members, Kampong Serusop.
