IN COMMEMORATING its 24th anniversary, the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) held a ‘Doa Kesyukuran’ ceremony yesterday at the multipurpose hall of the YSHHB Complex in the capital.
Gracing the event was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Yayasan Committee of Governors. Greeting the royal arrival were Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman and Vice Chairman II Yayasan Board of Directors, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong.
Yesterday’s ceremony began with the mass Maghrib prayer followed with the mass recitation of Surah Yaasiin led by Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, followed by the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran to mark the 24th establishment of Yayasan and mass Isyak Prayers.
Yayasan was established with the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on October 5, 1992 in conjunction with His Majesty’s Silver Jubilee celebration of His Majesty’s ascending the throne.
In the first decade, it implemented several projects and activities in line with its principles and objectives in the areas of religion, welfare, education, development and finance.

After achieving all the projects and implementation of its objectives, the foundation doubled its efforts in entering the second decade and took up new initiatives in facing the ever changing and challenging socio-economy and demographic situation.
Entering the third decade, Yayasan will continue to plan and take relevant proactive and innovative steps to increase their project and activity achievements and will continue to provide relevant assistance to the subjects and residents in line with its vision of upgrading the quality of life and towards achieving excellence in socio-cultural development and community welfare in Brunei Darussalam.
The foundation will also ensure that whatever assistance and services rendered and projects taken are well organised and help its target groups to upgrade the well-being and welfare of the people.
