A FAULTY and ageing electrical wiring system was believed to have caused a fire that gutted a house in Kampong Lorong Dalam in the Brunei capital yesterday morning. The incident left a family of 10 homeless.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, a distress call was made at 9.11am about the incident and the department deployed 14 personnel from the Marine Fire Station, Pelancaran Fire Station and Sungai Kebun Fire Station led by Commanding Officer of Operation ‘D’ SSFR Nohi Irwansukarki bin Haji Pawi to the scene.
Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident that attracted scores of onlookers at the iconic Kampong Ayer as the fire spread rapidly throughout the house while fire-fighters attempted to douse the flames.
The Fire and Rescue Department said it estimated losses of up to B$12,000 due to the incident.
