THE champion of the Open Modified category of the Suzuki 4×4 Challenge Cup 2016, Chai Mun Shin, yesterday gave the thumbs-up to organisers of the tournament, especially Boustead Sdn Bhd and Persatuan Kereta Tahan Lasak Brunei (PKTLB).

Chai, who is from Kuching, said Sarawak Kuching Off-Roaders was looking forward to more off-road competitions in Brunei.

“Driving has been my hobby since I was young, and I like going for off-road in the jungle. Maybe this helped me win the challenge,” he said.

“This was not the first time I participated in an off-road competition in Brunei Darussalam.

“Six years ago, I took part in one in the Tutong District, where I emerged champion as well.

“Before this latest challenge, we participated in a 4×4 challenge in Singkawang, Kalimantan, Indonesia, where we finished first runner-up,” he added.

Sarawak Kuching Off-Roaders manager Wilfred Sim said his team was looking forward to competing at the Asean level.

This year, 15 vehicles competed in the Standard category, 34 in the Modified category, while 18 took part in the Team Relay category.
