SPECIAL Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) athletes, Khairul Amzar bin Khalid and Syamsiah binti Takong, yesterday returned home proud and jubilant from their successful efforts at the ‘6th TAFISA (The Association For International Sports for All) World Sports for All Games’ in Jakarta.
Khairul Amzar and Syamsiah won silver in the unified bocce team category and bronze for the unified bocce’s male and female categories respectively.
During the unified bocce team finals, Khairul Amzar and Syamsiah partnered with Muhd Nabil bin Esa and Cikgu Subinoorhayati binti Bibi, who were the athletes’ partners without disabilities
Cikgu Subinoorhayati told the Bulletin that it was a good experience for her and Muhd Nabil when they partnered with the special needs athletes.
She added that it was an excellent opportunity for the two SOBD athletes as well to develop their skills and techniques in the unified bocce games.
SOBD’s Vice Chairman Haji Jumaat bin Salleh and other officials were also at the Brunei International Airport’s Arrival Hall yesterday to greet the triumphant athletes.
