AFTER two weeks of joint exercises between the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), Exercise AIRGUARD 22/16 ended on Wednesday at the Bukit Agok Firing Range.
The closing ceremony was attended by Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Commander of the RBAirF; and Major General Mervyn Tan Wei Ming, Chief of the RSAF.
Prior to his tour of the exercise areas together with his Singaporean counterpart, the RBAirF Commander delivered a speech, in which he described the exercise as a key platform for military cooperation between the two air forces.
He also added that this year saw two female troop commanders for the first time, in charge of the drills.

During briefing on the conclusion of the Exercise AIRGUARD 22/16.
They were 1119 Lt (U) Noraqidah binti Efinddi from the RBAirF, and LTA Thng Lizhen from the RSAF.
The ceremony then saw the handover of the Exercise AIRGUARD flag by the RBAirF Commanding Officer of the No 2 Wing, to the RSAF Commanding Officer of the 18th Divisional Air Defence Artillery Battalion (18 DA Bn), as a symbol of transferring the duties as host for the next AIRGUARD exercise. Exercise AIRGUARD 22/2016 began on October 6.
