SPEAKER of the Legislative Council, YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, made a five-day official visit to the Russian Federation, which began on October 10. He was accompanied by several officials from the Department of Councils of State.
The speaker made a goodwill visit to the Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko.
Also in attendance was the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Russian Federation, Haji Haini bin Haji Hashim.
The Speaker of the Legislative Council also visited several ministries at the Russian Federation like the Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and held meetings with deputy ministers of the different ministries to discuss matters of mutual interest including the present and future cooperation.

YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman also toured the Conference Hall of the Russian Federation Council and attended a wreath laying ceremony at Kremlin at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin Wall.
The ceremony is held annually to remember Soviet soldiers killed during World War II.
