REPRESENTATIVES from the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Exhibition Gallery (BPIS) on Sunday left for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the invitation of the Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism to participate in the World Islamic Tourism Conference and Expo (WITCX), which will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur (KL) from October 18-22. This annual event is held in conjunction with the 7th Muslim World Biz 2016.
The BPIS representatives included Dato Paduka Ahmad Bukhari bin Pehin Siraja Khatib Haji Abu Hanifah, Special Duties Officer, and Rawandi Rafie bin Haji Awang Yahya, Assistant Public Relations Officer from the State Mufti’s Office.
Dato Paduka Ahmad Bukhari is also invited as one of the panellists in the OIC-World Islamic Conference, with the topic of discussion on ‘The Millenials Traveller Domination – How Does It Affect the Evolution of Halal Tourism’.
The one-week 7th Muslim World Biz, featuring conference, forum and expo, will focus on leveraging strategies to influence the number of Muslim tourists estimated to increase to 150 million by 2020 with a total budget of around US$200 billion.
The WITCX 2016 conference will be a platform for interaction among delegates from various institutions and Islamic tourism industry which will ensure opportunities in business and provide a wide range of Islamic tourism information.
Meanwhile the Expo WITC 2016 will act as a platform to display products and services offered by Islamic tourist destination rich in the national heritage in the OIC countries.
The BPIS exhibition at Expo WITCX 2016 will highlight Brunei.
The Brunei representatives to WITCX 2016 also include by Darussalam Holdings, Freme Travel and Services and Royal Brunei Airlines.
