A CYCLING activity will be held on October 30 at 6.45am in conjunction with the 46th anniversary of the change of name of Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan as well as the 11th National Youth Day.
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has agreed to participate in the event that will start and end at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, according to a press release.
The cycling activity will cover a few roads in Bandar Seri Begawan and pass iconic buildings and historical places such as Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Lapau, and Royal Regalia Building.
The streets that will be used include Jalan Elizabeth II, Jalan Masjid Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Jalan Mc Arthur, Jalan Kianggeh, Jalan Tasek, Jalan Sekolah, Jalan Kumbang Pasang, Jalan Perdana Menteri and Jalan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha.
Members of the public are welcome to join the event. Participants are advised to come early and to take safety measures while cycling.
The event aims to instil a healthy lifestyle among the people as well as add value to the Bandarku Ceria programme which is held every Sunday ever since October 2, 2016, according to the press release.
