THE Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School (SMALHB) A team emerged as the champion in the final of the 3rd Arabic Debate Contest for Arabic Schools 2016 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Arabic Preparatory School in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.
The final saw a debate in Arabic between SMALHB A team and SMALHB B team on the topic ‘Media, TV and Radio, Reasons for Moral Decadence Among Youth’.
The guest of honour was Ustazah Hajah Norjarah binti Haji Luidin, the Acting Assistant Director (Professional), Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), who handed over prizes to the winners, including the ‘Best Debater’ Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Isa from the SMALHB A team.
The debate is an annual event of the Islamic Studies Department, MoRA, which aims to improve Arabic speaking skills among secondary to upper secondary students.
