Survey Department teams shine in 19th KKC competition

TEAMS from the Survey Department under the Ministry of Development dominated the top three positions yesterday, in the final rounds of the 19th Kumpulan Kerja Cemerlang (KKC,) or Quality Control Circle, competition for public service.

The winner of the competition was a team called ‘LAKAS’, with their project on efficient management of fuel for marine vehicles.

The runner-up was team ‘PGS1516’ with their project on the speeding up of the geospatial mapping process. In third place was team ‘ToCad’, with their project on improving Certified Plans that do not meet certain specifications.

The winning team was awarded a cash prize of $6,000 while the first and second runner-ups received $4,000 and $1,000 respectively.

On hand to present the winners with their prizes, trophies and certificates of participation was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Roselan bin Haji Mohamad Daud, the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The other KKC finalists – ‘TAHSIN’ from the Audit Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, ‘ITQAN’ from the Survey Department at the Ministry of Development, ‘Khazanah’ from the Treasury Department at the Ministry of Finance, ‘Livesaver995’ from the Fire and Rescue Department at the Ministry of Home Affairs, ‘RD FWD’ from the Revenue Division at the Ministry of Finance, and ‘TBT15’ from the Survey Department at the Ministry of Development – were awarded consolation prizes of $1,000 each.

Meanwhile, ‘TAHSIN’ from the Audit Department at the Prime Minister’s Office received the award for best performance, while the Survey Department at the Ministry of Development was awarded for its active participation in the KKC.

The award for the best facilitator went to Hajah Rusinah binti Haji Tengah from the Survey Department at the Ministry of Development.

A total of nine teams from five departments in four ministries took part in the one-day competition on the premises of the Prime Minister’s Office in Jalan Perdana Menteri yesterday, presenting their projects on how to improve work flow, productivity and quality in their respective workplaces.

The scoring in the KCC competition is based on evaluation of reports of respective projects, as well as a closed-session presentation and an open-session presentation. During the open-session, teams showcased their projects through various presentation methods using multimedia tools, drama skits and project illustrations.

The convention was attended by around 300 guests, including permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, department heads and senior officers from several ministries.
