HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), attended the two-day XXI Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOC) General Assembly 2016 held in Doha.
His Royal Highness is a member of Finance and Audit Commission of ANOC.
ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who was joined by IOC President Thomas Bach to address a record-number of delegates during the opening of the ANOC General Assembly, reaffirmed ANOC’s commitment to supporting NOCs for the benefit of the Olympic movement.
IOC President Thomas Bach in his address praised the success of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and provided an update on the Olympic Agenda 2020.
ANOC is 100 per cent committed to the recommendations set out in Olympic Agenda 2020 and continues to support NOCs it its implementation.
The general assembly is hosted in Qatar for the first time and there were also formal addresses by Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani as well as Qatar Olympic Committee President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Each of the five continental associations – ANOCA, PASO, OCA, EOC and ONOC – delivered their own update reports before the 2024 Olympic Games Candidate Cities officially presented their bids to the Olympic Movement for the very first time.
